So I have decided to roll up my sleeves this year and attempt to pull 50,000 words out of my noggin in 30 days. I am super excited to get started. Bring on November. I have already built the idea of the novel and am currently working on character profiles as well as the title...any and all suggestions are greatly appreciated as well as feedback on the snyposis. Here it is:

Stella Cartwright married young. She was in love with being in love. Hers was the picture of a fairy tale come true. But behind those drawn curtains and muted by the sounds of the TV or radio....her life was a living hell. The beatings. The rapes. The verbal abuse. She took it, she learned how to cover the bruises and put on that happy face he liked. But when he took from her the one thing she held dear ~ their unborn child. She found the courage and the reason she needed to leave him.

Now 20 years later and a whole lifetime of retrospect, healing, and moving forward Dr. Stella Cartwright gives back in the only way she nows how. She leads a therapy/support group for women in abusive relationships. They meet every Thursday night without fail. Until one seemingly ordinary night in February when Charlotte doesn't show ~ everything begins to change.

One by one the deaths start happening. Those so called “men” that have taken so much from these women are finally getting a dose of reality in a not so pretty way. Seems death is imitating life in the form of the stories being shared in this close knit group of sisters.

Assigned to the case is veteran homicide detective Lucinda Rivera. If anyone can crack this wide open, it will be her. But at what cost. This group of women is held tight by a bond she is not familiar with. In her efforts to get inside this killer's head, she finds herself breaking every rule in the book including falling in love with Stella.

Is this perhaps the one defining case of Lucinda's career? Can Stella hold them all together without falling apart herself? Who can be trusted and who is next on the killer's list? How far will they all go to protect each other? Friendships, trust and courage is all at stake. The answers are right in front of them waiting to be noticed. The real question is: Will the truth really set them free?
